All of this angular, cubist-influenced direction began from one small art magazine photo of a painting, torn out in a Seattle coffeehouse years ago. (the "Morningside Cafe"?) The painting that fascinated me was "The Lotus Eaters", printed upside down, and mis-titled, as I later discovered. The correct title: "Oriental Synchromy in Blue Green". The artist: Stanton MacDonald Wright. I would love to find a copy of it since mine is long gone.

This was a small window into a mysterious faceted world, a glimpse of freedom from the "tyranny imposed by nature" (See Degas quote)

"Words about art are perhaps the most foolish words of all". Substitute any other creative subject for the word "art" and this probably also applies.

The Art should be enough. If it isn't, then maybe more silent practice is needed.

"It is all very well to copy what you see, but it is better to draw what you see in your mind. Then your memory and imagination are freed from the tyranny imposed by nature". (E. Degas)
